Sometimes, it takes the most simple thing to include kids with disabilities

A school district in Kentucky has come up with a smart, easy way to help nonverbal students play with their peers during recess: a giant communication board.

The board, which features common words like "play," "tag," "climb," and "push," enables local elementary school students to point to images to express what they want to peers and teachers.

Obviously, when kids are nonverbal or have limited speech, a speech app can open up a world of communication for them. But during recess, with all its hustle and bustle, pointing to a board could be faster and add to the fun, too.

Sometimes, it really is the most simple ideas that enable our kids.

Word.
