This kid has important calls to make
Ben grabbed Sabrina's phone yesterday afternoon and walked around talking into it, a milestone not in any of the child development books. We all laughed, Max the hardest of us all. He is charmed by Ben's progress...and maybe a little competitive.
"Did I do that?" he asked.
"No," I told him, honestly. Max didn't do much pretend play at that age, and didn't yet have words.
"Oh," he said, pondering that.
Max regularly wants to know if he did the stuff Ben is doing. Sometimes the answer is no. Sometimes the answer is "Yes, you did that when you were older." I'm always straight up about it. But I'll point out stuff that he did do.
"Max, you were the first person in our family to use an iPad!" I reminded him.
"YEAH!" he said. He's really proud of how well he knows his way around an iPad.
And then, Ben had something earth-shattering to say in his pretend phone conversation and once again, we were all laughing.

Adorable, but my old ears can't decipher what he said. Please tell.
ReplyDeleteHe said, and I quote, "Doo doo."
DeleteHaha!
DeleteOH!!! I listened to it 3 times & I thought he said "wanna eat"!! I figured he was trying to order Jimmy Johns!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for that laugh!!!
DeleteSo stinking cute! My older son is just at the point now where he is starting to notice his younger sister's delayed progress and asks questions, which we try to be open about but I think the entire idea is still hard for him to wrap his mind around at age 4.
