This is the second guest post from that world-renowned writer, Fireman Max, here to share more about his upcoming trip to Chicago. Like any growing boy, he gets very excited about FOOD. He figured out how to spell some words by looking at the items in our fridge, and he chose all the photos.
I am going to eat at new fire house restaurant.
I will drink milk.
I will eat sushi roll.
I will eat Chicago pizza.
I will eat chocolate yogurt.
I will eat chocolate ice cream.
I am happy.

Good job Fireman Max! Keep up the good work. Are you getting snow where you live?
ReplyDeleteyes
DeleteSo I am. You are probably hoping for a snow day.
DeleteI will have a snow day.
DeleteThat all sounds delicious, Fireman Max! I especially like the macaroni and cheese with ketchup!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awesome Fireman Max. And wait til you see what Chicago pizza actually looks like. It's about 1 million times thicker than it is in the one you have a picture of. I bet you will love it!
ReplyDeleteAhahaha, I was gonna tell Fireman Max to fire his art director. That's NY pizza! Which is way better than Chicago pizza (I'm ready to mud-wrestle Anon 8:13), and it is not just ME who thinks so. Max, DO NOT watch this but I think your mom should: Jon Stewart on Chicago pizza. It is very funny and there are MANY BLEEPS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrqSizC-T-4 Have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteA word from the photo editor: curse you, Google images. Also: that video killed me. Can't wait to share with Fireman Max someday!
DeleteThe most imp thing to plan before a trip is to decide where to eat...he got his priorities right...way to go Max!
ReplyDeleteMax, you just made me really hungry! Do you have a favorite kind of sushi? Stay safe in the snow storm!
ReplyDeleteavocado roll
DeleteHi Max what is your favorite food? Please write more posts I love them!
ReplyDeletemac and cheese
DeleteChocolate is my favorite Fireman Max and I love ketchup too. Please don't eat all f those in one sitting! :) Hugs from Maine.
ReplyDeleteApparently the fire house restaurant is closed due to a fire? I hope that's not true! Maybe you guys can get Chicago hot dogs to go and eat them at a fire station :)
ReplyDeleteI will go to the new firehouse restaurant.
DeleteThanks, Nan! A reader told us about The Firehouse Grill in Evanston, so that's where we are now headed (instead of The Firehouse Restaurant in Chicago which, yes, had a bad fire in December).
DeleteAwesome Fireman Max!
ReplyDeleteI really like your post about food Fireman Max.
ReplyDeleteSounds good! Macaroni and cheese is better with ketchup. I see that you're a chocolate type. I'm just a sugar type.
ReplyDeleteI'm just a mac 'n cheese type, the ketchup ruins it for me!
DeleteEllen! I sat down at the computer just now and the photo of Fireman Max was on the Yahoo computer screen with a link to your article "How Travel Transformed my Special Needs Son's Life." I called my kids over and said look who it is! We were at Hawks Cay at the same time you and your beautiful family were visiting and we seemed to be on the same meal/swim schedule. Hope he has a wonderful time in Chicago. ~Emily
ReplyDeleteHi! We are all trying to figure out who you guys are! What are your kids' names?
DeleteYay Fireman Max! What kind of pizza do you like best? I love pepperoni, myself.
ReplyDeleteme too.
DeleteWe've got a firehouse restaurant in the DC suburbs if you ever head down this way- http://www.thefirestation1.com/ I enjoy the kitsch. It's also close to the new fire station, which I'm sure Fireman Max would like to visit.
ReplyDeleteOur granddaughter had a brain injury at birth, and coded at two days old from an allergenic reaction to a medicine has seizures, can't sit up (YET!) and can't walk (YET); has CP, cortical blindness, fed by g-tube, says few words, she is two tomorrow! 1-27.
ReplyDeleteHer list of places...she has been to the Children's Museum, the zoo six times, the park, our new library in downtown Indianapolis. She comes to Gram's house we play keyboard piano (virtualpiano.net she plays her piano at home with her feet) I'm spending my Verizon point to take her to the symphony. The bigger trips we will wait and see what this next year brings, the first two years were pretty hard ones, she was re-hospitalized several times, we had to get her weight up which for a bit was a struggle. She is thriving, blabbing, using her limbs now, has an attitude with us and the PT people. We read to her, use sign language, we "describe" everything so she understands what is going on around her as she sees-but only half of everything according to the doctors. She knows all those that frequent her life. She lights up when we are around, she is excited most of the time, unless she feels puny (sick). I love it that your son is doing so many things in life, and the app we hope to be using soon. We have instilled the alphabet, counting, and making sure we give her choices!
She is at this time our only grandchild! WE DO spoil her. I hope your son gets the chance to have his dream of being in a firehouse and the experiences of life he deserves. There is hope...everyday there is hope!

Adorable!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Fireman Max! I love mac & cheese too (minus the ketchup, though)! And chocolate ice cream is my favorite, yum! Have fun on your trip and thank you for writing again! I love reading your posts. I hope you can come and visit the fire houses here in my town someday! I was driving past one the other night and thought how cool it would be to tour it myself. We could go together!
ReplyDeleteFireman Max, I love this post so much. But I am a mustard (not ketchup) person myself. Do you love ketchup because it is red, like a fire truck, or because of the taste? Or both?
ReplyDeletehello i like ketchup
DeleteMy little boy, Milo, LOVES ketchup on his Mac n cheese. And brr won't eat it with a fork. Only a spoon. Enjoy your trip Max!
