Special Needs Blogger Weekend Link-Up: Welcome!

It's another Special Needs Blogger Weekend Link-Up, and now you'll have lots of reading material for the weekend.

The idea

Link to a favorite post of the week—yours or someone else's.

What to do

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of this post. Where it says "Your name" put the name of the blog followed by the title of the post (or just the name of the post, if there's no room—you get 80 characters).

Like this: Love That Max: Is It Summer Yet?

Where it says "Your URL" put the direct link to the post.

Click "Enter." Leave a comment if you want to say more. Go check out some great posts.

Happy linking!

  4. In "The Gatekeepers" I tell the story of how an SLP from the DOE attempted to deem my daughter's communication device "inappropriate" and replace it with something else. The moral of the story: we need to have high expectation of our kids, presume competence, and not get railroaded by the gatekeepers of resources our kids need.

Plus, it contains a pretty awesome video of Maya's communication journey over the past 3 years (from signing to PECs to Proloquo2Go to a communication book and then to our current app)! :)

    Thanks for the link-up, Ellen!

My link deals with my child's future - and how my feelings are changing as she gets older.

  11. I love what someone at church said about Faith not too long ago. "Your daughter is so full of life." May all people see that kids with special needs aren't living a "low quality of life"

Thanks again for the Linkup, Ellen.

  13. This week, I linked a rather unusual post #34- Out One Ear -Three Seconds: A Roof Climbing Job Ends In Tragedy. You might wonder how this relates to my blog and parenting my special needs daughter. At the end of the post, I explain how I used to handle a crisis situation. While parenting Lindsey, I found that overreacting did not work. Overreacting only lead to over-excitement and agitation in my special girl. I have her to thank for the lessons in how to control my mental and physical emotions during a crisis. Sometimes we don't realize (until much later) all the new skills we are learning while raising our children. I hope you will read this heartbreaking story and share so that no one else ever has to witness or experience a tragedy such as this. Stopping, proceeding slowly, and using extreme caution when on a roof or around ladders may have resulted in a different outcome. Thanks Ellen, for allowing me (and my fellow bloggers) to share their pieces. I love this day of the week.
