Special Needs Blogger Weekend Link-Up: Hel-lo there!
'Tis the season to share your posts! It's another weekend link-up for bloggers with kids who have special needs.
The idea
Share a favorite post of the week.
What to do
Scroll all the way down to the bottom of this post. Where it says "Your name" put the name of your blog followed by the title of your post (or just the name of the post, if there's no room—you get 80 characters).
Like this: Mommy Needs A Nap! SOS!
Where it says "Your URL" put the direct link to the post.
Click "Enter." Leave a comment if you want to say more. Go check out some great posts.
Thank you for this again! I'm sharing a post that isn't necessarily my *favorite,* but that I think has some very valuable information in the comments section for anyone who's having difficulty with their child with special needs and visits to the dentist... :-(
I'm happy to join in this week! I haven't written much worth sharing since the new baby arrived, but this week I've got something good :) Thanks for running the link up, Ellen!
As always, thanks for the link-up, Ellen! I am particularly proud of the little video I shot of my boy for this post - he is so cute when he is motivated to perform for cookies! http://youtu.be/fJjxhSq8mUo
Thank you for this 'weekend roundup', Ellen! Rehab appointments with Nick kept me from posting this yesterday, but I my post this week is just for fun and has a good, really easy recipe for brownies. Hope you like it and Happy Holidays!
I love it when you do this, thank you! My post is about recent fashion spreads in magazines that look like models are wearing deep pressure vests! lol. It's also about my needing to make one for my son. My blog mixes special needs, fashion, and DIY posts. Enjoy!
Our post is about our struggle to find a support community that doesn't require believing in a fantasy. "You can do anything!!" is one conversation in the life of a stay at home mom trying to figure out a tricycle and finding anger instead of advice.
This week's post is my favorite video of all-time. We finally found motivation to get my little guy to use a switch to activate the Christmas tree and music. He was so excited, he played with the tree for at least an hour. No small feat for a kid with sensory issues who refuses to use his hands :)
Thank you again, Ellen, for giving us all a place to come together every week and share what makes our kids so special.
I linked not my favorite post, but something that happened to my Bear this summer. Something I had never heard of, and it was not caused by his Down syndrome. I have since been advocating and sharing and spreading awareness of this. It is rare, but can happen to any one because it is caused by medications, which many of our children are on a lifetime. Knowing the signs ahead of time can save a life. Please read the blog post following it for a complete understanding of the devastation, and also for the giant smile on your face at the end. My Bear is a fighter and I will NEVER give up on him. We also had the largest following of people I have ever seen in my life on any child on FB and in real life. It.was.simply.amazing. Over 600 cards from around the world, donations, food to my family that as taking care of my other 2 children at home for 4 solid weeks. I will never be able to repay those people, but the love and outpouring for one little boy, a little boy that a lot of society thinks will be come nothing, tells me a different story and restores my humanity. Kai defeated several odds and does not have a single adverse affect, scar, blindness, deafness...nothing. It is the first miracle I have been blessed to witness and I want to share it with the world!

ReplyDeleteMy post is about how my son embraces the world of fantasy but can't seem to translate that embrace to the real world.
