Max likes me enough, but I sometimes can't compete with his affection for Lightning McQueen. He has loved that car, and the movie, since it came out. "Lightning McQueen" was the first two-word phrase Max ever said. We've worn down at least two Cars DVDs. That scene in the move in which McQueen is talking to himself and saying "No, No, No" and then "Yes, Yes, Yes" cracks him up every time.
The other week, I asked Max if he'd like to go see Cars 2 in a movie theater when it's out. Max has never seen a movie in a theater; he freaks out. Our area has an AMC theater with sensory-friendly screenings for kids with special needs, and I might try that though I'm not sure Max will be into it. Getting a big box delivered to your house with a Cars 2 Road Trip Survival Kit gift, however, is a different story. It arrived just in time for our beach getaway. Max was in shock at first. Do you think Sabrina has a future as a game show host?
Word, all summer long when you buy Kleenex, Cottonelle, Pull-Ups, and other Kimberly-Clark products featuring Cars 2 labels, you'll get codes you can redeem for Cars 2 goodies. Meanwhile, I have one Cars 2 Road Trip Survival Kit to give away. It's worth $230 and includes:
• A Die Cast Character Car
• Cars Giant Color Pages
• A Disney Cars 7" Portable DVD Player
• An original Cars DVD
• Disney Cars Pool Tumbler with Straw
• (2) Cars reusable totes
• Cottonelle Moist Wipes
• Cars branded Scott Extra Soft TP
• (4) Kleenex pocket packs
• Cars branded Pull-Ups
• (1) Cars branded Viva paper towels
To enter, just leave a comment about your favorite road trip—either with your family or with your family growing up or both! I have wonderful memories of visiting Stockbridge, Massachusetts with my mom, dad, and sister, and of picnicking at Tanglewood as we listened to classical music. Dave and I took Max there as a baby, and I remember people asking what I fed him because he was so chunkalicious.

Oops forgot my favorite roadtrip! I guess when I was 17 and my mom let me go and visit a boyfriend graduating from Naval school in Tennessee. Felt like a grownup and had the best time exploring the area!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite road trip was going to New Mexico and Colorado and visiting family and friends along the way. I got to show off my baby and see loved ones we hadn't seen in years.
ReplyDeleteLike Love that Max on facebook.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest would love the customized printable ticket at K-C Cars 2 site.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite trip was to Myrtle Beach with the entire family. We stayed in condos right on the beach!
ReplyDeleteI never realized I'd be so much of a road trip person, but now I find us taking four or so a year. The most fun so far was a trip we made over Thanksgiving last year to Blue Ridge, Georgia. We stayed in a cabin and took Eddie on a train ride, and it was fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThis summer we're renting a beach house for a WHOLE WEEK (I'm not one to do week-long vacations, so this is huge), and having this kit would make a huge improvement in our getting from here to there.
The giant coloring pages are great for paint too!

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I agree, BEST GIVEAWAY EVER!!! My boys would LOVE this! Our favorite road trips are always up to Prescott, my home town to see the grandparents,
ReplyDeleteI guess I am not eligible to win (living in Canada and all) but I thought I would post my favorite road trip anyway - it was the summer of 2003 when me and 9 friends rented a passenger van and drove to Seattle for a Metallica concert. Best road trip ever!! Oh and my boys share Max's affection for the movie. I think I have the entire movie memorized. We are also considering going to see Cars 2 in the theatre but may wait until it hits the cheapies so we will only lose $2 each if the boys don't tolerate it :-)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the die cast cars with lights and sound.
ReplyDeleteI like you on fb!
ReplyDeleteAww, poor Max. How are you going to break it to him that he'll have to give away all that Cars stuff?
ReplyDeleteWe always drove to the Carolina's for family vacations. I have fond memories of hating and loving my brother during those times spent in the back seat together.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite road trip memory was driving to New Jersey with my dad and sisters. We'd go every summer from Pennsylvania to visit my grandparents and we'd start off just before dinner time. We always drove just over an hour, would stop for McDonalds and then get going again. My sisters would fall asleep and my dad and I would get to talk until we drove up to my grandparents sometime after 2am. I've had some great trips with my husband and am looking forward to more with him and our son, but for now, the old one wins.
ReplyDeleteAlso liked on FB :).
Not eligible to enter but love that I can hear Max saying "McQueen" each time he points to the car pics of Lightning McQueen.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Max.
My favorite road trip was going to the Smokey Mtns in Gatlingburn TN in October and looking at all the red trees.

ReplyDeleteThe best road trip we've had is the 10 trip to Maine we've made for 2 summers now.

ReplyDeleteI have great memories of our family road trips to Myrtle Beach, SC. My dad would always stop at the same Stuckey's and buy me and my brother a soft ice cream cone.
ReplyDeleteabfantom at yahoo dot com
We drove from Ohio to Fla, that was so much fun as we made stops along the way.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite road trip was when we went to Edisto Island. The whole family went.We had 4 cars and when we would stop at rest stops we would get pamplets and coupon books of places and things we wanted to see.We stayed in the camp ground and had a great time at the beach.
ReplyDeletekats7960@gmail.com
We love any trip in which we can listen to an audiobook. We "read" all the Harry Potter and Little House books this way last year, and we just finished Johnny Tremaine!
ReplyDeleteMy road trip memories revolve around the family cramming into a car (used minivan) on the annual 12hr ride to Ohio for Thanksgiving--my parents, my little sister and older brother. Little sis LOVED IT b/c it was the only time her older siblings were confined in the same space, forcing us to spend time with her. Fighting for sleep space (seat belts? what was that?!), car inevitably breaking down, near collisions in the snow, fighting over , 100 bottles of beer on the wall...before smartphones, before DVD players, heck, we didn't even have a tape player. Good times.
ReplyDeleteHi. Sorry to push into this post on this but do go and read the excerpt from Mindy Kalling's new book "Is everyone hanging out without me." Besides the fab title in one of the essays entitled "Do these things (Part II) is a heading entitled "Don't use the word Retarted." You can find the excerpt through an Entertainment Weekly link on their shelf life blog. I think you'll like it a lot!

My favorite road trip.........has to be one with my mom and dad when I was in junior high. We drove up to Price Edward Island to see the Anne of Green Gables house, among other things. The most memorable part of the trip, on the way home my mother LOST the US!!! Seriously, she expected there to be like a big sign saying "US this way" and she just kept driving, westward through Canada! I think it was about an hour or two before she realized oops! LOL.

ReplyDeleteOur favorite road trips were the ones bringing us back to our family in Illinois when we lived in Minnesota. Our daughter was a wonderful rider, but we'd still take our time and stop at anything that caught our eye. Now that we live in Illinois again, we're excited to take road trips elsewhere!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves the Crayola Giant Coloring pages. She is almost out of her Dora ones, so Cars 2 would be her new favorite!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't travel as kids, but my favorite road trip as an adult was from the west coast to the midwest, with many, many stops in small towns along the way.

I used to love our trips to Tanglewood as well, I loved listening to the concerts under the stars. But I think my favorite road trip memory now is from our trip to Ireland last year. Baby girl had just had too much, so we changed our plans, pulled into a small town and found an awesome playground. Best hour ever!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd get the Crayola Color Wonder pack

My favorite road trip was to Disneyland with my family.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Alaska so proper road trips were sort of rare (sure it's big, but there's not a lot of road!) We did do a trip up the Oregon Coast one year though, culminating in a big family reunion. That was pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI have very fond memories of road tripping as a kid from our home in Seattle to Southern California. We went the scenic route. We stopped at the Sea Lion Caves in oregon, the Redwood forest in California. We ate decadant Crossoint and turkey sandwiches that my mom brought the fixins for...one of my favorite times.

Flew into Las Vegas, after some time there drove across the desert to Anaheim (Disneyland), then drove up along the coast and stayed in San Francisco for a few days before we flew back home.

Hmm, favorite road trip is a three-way tie for me. My family didn't do family road trips, but my mom and I drove to Mississippi from Tampa, FL, most summers to see her parents. Those were sweet trips. Then when I was in high school, I joined a family I babysat for on their road trip over Christmas break from Tampa up to Minnesota and North and South Dakota. That family exuded love, and I loved being a part of them for a bit. And, finally, we took our first road trip as a family of four last spring from Raleigh, NC, to Rio Grande City, TX. With a one- and three-year-old, we did have a few tough moments, but it was mostly precious family time.

ReplyDeleteEvery road trip we ever took, if my father saw a turtle on the road, he'd stop and put it in the car to keep it from getting killed. Sometimes by the time we took a 2 hr trip to my grandmothers, we'd be standing on the seats (before seat belt laws) because the floorboard would be full of turtles!!! Then we'd take them to my g'ma's farm and let them all go.

ReplyDeleteOur favorite road trip would have to be when we surprised the kids with a trip to Disney, telling them we had a doctor's appointment and therapy for our son. They both were sleeping by the time we arrived in Orlando. Luke, our non verbal son woke up first and almost spoiled the surprise for his sister by squealing as the fireworks went off. We thankfully made it to the gates and woke her up. Best trip and best surprise to date! They were elated!!!

There are so many great stories from those trips from stopping to pose in the bluebells along the side of the road to my sister getting hermit crabs and bringing them home with us on the long road trip. We laugh for hours as we recount those stories...
