  8. OK, I'm half-joking here, half not! We have a lot to consider. My heart says yes, my mind says, "uh-oh."

  9. I was thinking this morning - as I passed a Hummer on the road! - about your post yesterday and the Hummer comment and feel that the person who made the comment was so wrong! People are not machines and generally contribute to society at large. And, who knows, the little one could be just the person to find the cure for cancer, or global warming, or bring people together or a whole hose of other things! So, in a nutshell, I don't think adding children is equivalent of getting a Hummer even though I have an Environmental Science degree and have studied the impact of population on the Earth.....

  10. I am with Kristina, and disagree with that Hummer analogy, too, I gotta say. The person who coined that comment put a bad idea in your head, and made a false assumption that the kid will just sit back and use more resources, when in fact the kid usually ends up being a little recycling machine--as someone who grew up wearing hand-me-downs (and waiting anxiously for my sister to outgrow that item that I coveted), I know a lot about that! The person with the Hummer idea also implies that the kid is destined to be a passive, consuming blob, and won't be giving anything back--which says more about the person with the idea than the kid, frankly.

But, at the end of the day, the decision is yours to make, and whatever you end up doing will be the "right thing."

At least it's a safe bet you won't do what I did, mistaking a pregnancy for the onset of menopause!
