So, Max's speech therapist at school programmed a fart sound into his Dynavox‚ just in case you couldn't tell
what that noise was in this video. Max thinks farts are really funny...just like any other 7-year-old boy. The only troubling thing is how awed my husband is by this. I didn't manage to record the part where Dave said, "YEAH! MAX!", as if making your speech communication device spew gastrointestinal noises is some huge milestone.
Do men ever outgrow toilet humor?!
Our speech lady went to a conference where they basically said that ANYTHING that gets a kid to interact with their device is a good thing--up to and including making funny expresiions or whatever else the kid likes.
ReplyDeleteMonkey Boy is sitting here next to me (he's getting over the flu so his schedule is all out of whack) and he just about busted a gut when he saw Max's new trick. OK, I'll admit I did too. Great job, Max! Nothing like a little potty humor.
ReplyDeleteOh man that's funny!! My Max thinks bathroom humor is the best. He likes to replace random words in songs with bodily functions, even if it makes no sense. It's such a boy thing, and no, I don't think they outgrow it.
ReplyDeleteAlrighty...who did they record???
ReplyDeleteNo, not ever, definitely not. Well, at least not before they hit 38 like my DH...
ReplyDeleteI foolishly thought that being mum to 3 girls might spare me the toilet humour. Not a chance. Thanks hubbster...
Quietly saying this:
ReplyDeleteI have twelve year old boy humor & find farts freakin' hilarious. I have even taught MM to say "oooo, I ripped one"
GO MAX!
Forgot to add that she needs to program a funny "excuse me" to push after the fart sound!
ReplyDeleteUm, you are SO right about that "Excuse me!" sound.
ReplyDeleteI asked my husband this very question after my eldest made the word 'poo' out of snow, for all our neighbours to see. My husband said it never stops being funny, all their lives!! I probably shouldn't have asked lol. Love the sound:) Jen.
ReplyDeleteThe question that is on everyone's mind after reading that post: whose fart sound is it???
ReplyDeleteAlexandra
THat is great, Ellen! Max gets it! He has a great sense of humor! Faith thinks they are funny too...thanks Carl!
ReplyDeleteOMG he is cracking me UP! Too cute.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the expression on Max's face.
ReplyDeleteIs Max using his device more now? He might also enjoy having jokes programmed in -- you know, knock knock and other jokes.
Ben has begun using an iPod with Proloquo2G.
This is great. My kids love it!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that is hilarious! It's great that he gets to make the same jokes and potty humor that ALL boys like. :)
ReplyDeleteHave to tell you that we found a toy that looks like a car remote and makes about 7 different toot noises. Needless to say, it's been a hit with EVERY guy we meet. And helped Jack make some long car rides.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the EVER outgrow it!
ReplyDeletePotty humor never leaves a boy!
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping to re-try the Dynavox later...so far, it was more of a frustration than help. But Max makes me hopeful!
No. No, they don't.
ReplyDeleteMy kids (who are fart champions--anything to do with farting, they're on it) think this video is a laugh riot--they heard the farting and laughing and now they want "that toy!" I'm thinking they don't sell that number at WALMART!
ReplyDeleteYou need to make that device say "Pull my finger" and teach Max that little exchange! It's a real icebreaker!
LOVE IT! You know despite Jude's disabilities when I change his diaper his hands.......well roam. I guess fart humor and other factors are genetically built into all boys!
ReplyDeletethat is just sooooooo funny. I LOVE it. Barbara, if you read this........don't program fart sounds in Bennett's speech device. PLEASE! He is bad enough about farts and smelly poops as it is!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd, Max, you are being a bad influence on my perfect grandson. LOL
Bennett's grandma
Love that Max!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I get all sorts of good ideas on this blog, but Felicia, that "pull my finger" idea made me crack up. I should do that! Kids will think Max is the coolest kid ever!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby wants me to comment "fart humor never gets old" (says the 36 year old man)
ReplyDeleteWe have been having the same thing around our house. Drew & Little Dude love making each other laugh over those noises. Plus, we are working on toilet training so my little guy keeps asking about everyone we know and whether they poop or not.
Much more potty talk than I am used it!
I am not telling my husband about this. He will program that right onto Micah's Voice if he hears. But can I say that it's amusing when it's happening to someone else?
ReplyDeleteThat's the ordinary kid in him.
ReplyDeleteMy partner (the 30 year old man) told me this story about once when he was 1 or 2 years old managed to poo at church. Erm no I think its one of those things that is a part of all men. But look at it this way, it means Max is "typical".
