Which part of your child is yummiest?
Max's right hand is looser, so the Botox is definitely working. Tonight, as he was falling asleep, I lay down next to him in bed (our bed—yes, he and Sabrina are STILL there), held his hand in mine and felt the difference.
I have always loved Max's hands. Here they are when he was eight months old, pudge central. With wrists that looked liked someone had tied a rubber around them. And those adorable inverted knuckles babies and little kids have.
His hands would frequently tighten up and fist, something that concerned me a lot back then. I'd wiggle in a finger and try to get him to relax. Conversely, sometimes they'd get really slack and I'd have to help him close his fingers around a rattle or toy handle. I was always massaging them during car rides.
These are Sabrina's hands, snapped this fall. I adore them, too. She still has a little bit of the crease around her wrist, and the inverted knuckles. I am clinging to that last bit of baby-ness.
What do you find most delicious about your children?

Oh, I'm so glad it went well!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, my favorite part would have to be his smile (is that a part?). When he regressed, or whatever you want to call it, he was like a little old depressed man who didn't smile or look at you. Now when he smiles at me and his eyes light up, it is the most precious thing in the world. :)
I like Evan's scarred tummy. I just love blowing on it and tickling it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I did baby portraiture, I always liked the hands and feet. You moms always go nuts for the cute B&W hand or foot, and little toes shots.
ReplyDeleteThose hands are so cute! Max's chubby little baby hands are definitely kissable!
ReplyDeleteI've always been partial to Daniel's cheeks. He doesn't have much weight on him. He's long and lean, with the tiniest little hips I've ever seen (yeah, I'm jealous).
But his baby cheeks have never completely left. He has these high cheekbones that make you just want to pinch him. That, and his nose - whenever he laughs, his little nose crinkles up and I absolutely melt.
Clayton's little fat cheeks are my favorite and I could stare in those eyes all day long!!
ReplyDeleteI go for the big bright faces and the earnest eyes, and I have to say I love the sound of their voices when they are playing together and having a ton of fun...it's the sound of pure joy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great subject, Ellen! You sure know how to perk a person up with a simple exercise in thoughtful gratitude! You go, girl!
I love how Darsie's eyes crinkle when she is super happy and I can't get enough of the little dimples on her back right above her cute little tushie.
ReplyDeleteOh, and she has the sweetest little outie belly button from the catheter and I love to nibble it.
I agree with the smile factor. Amelia is low tone -- so we we don't get those big toothy smiles from her. But when I coax them out -- they are precious to me!
ReplyDeleteI also luuuv to kiss on her feet!
Just playing catch up...I agree with you about Natasha Richardson. The thing about TBI's is they don't discriminate -- anyone, anytime, anywhere, anyplace...nobody knows when or why, they just happen.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the apples of Kasia's cheeks. I must kiss them or rub my face across them at least 4 zillion times a day.
ReplyDeleteI think it's the dimples, mainly the ones on the face. At one time my son had six [low muscle tone] but none the less adorable.
ReplyDeleteCheers
I'm new to your blog and loved today's post and photos. I, too, loved those little hands. My daughter, now fourteen and severely disabled with epilepsy has the most beautiful, delicate hands. I love them. My boys, though, have quickly grown out of that dimpled look -- and their fingernails are always dirty! I look forward to reading more.
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Elizabeth. I am bleary-eyed as I type this (I really need to tear myself away from the computer), but will come visit you soon. I love hearing about everyone's favorite kid parts. I didn't want to go on and on in the post, but I also love: Max's smile, Max's lashes, Sabrina's hair, Sabrina's butt.
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to do a part 2 to this blog, come to think of it, about baby thighs. I have pictures. :)
Bottoms. Is it OK to say bottoms?
ReplyDeleteOK, I've said it.
I love my boys freshly bathed little bottoms.
Too cute ;-).
Oh and ears and noses. Especially noses.
Love the pics Ellen!
These pictures are absolutely priceless. I love them. As for my yummy kiddos. That's kinda hard. I'm going to say Ben's feet, Violet's back and Alex's cheeks.
