I cannot stop kissing my kids. I do it all the time: When I wake them, when I pick them up from the car seat, when I wipe their mouths after a meal, when we're on the floor playing, when they do something I think is cute (which is approximately every four minutes). Kisses on the lips, the cheeks, their hair, their limbs. When they were babies, I used to literally kiss their chubby butts.
Kiss-iness runs in the family; Max planted one on his new baby sis whenever he had the chance.
The only better thing than giving kisses is, of course, getting them. Max is always ready and willing. He is all about these open-mouthed, slurpy kisses that linger on your cheek for a good five minutes if you don't wipe them away, which I never do. That first week after he was born, when he was in the NICU and not allowed out of the incubator, I'd lean down to stare at him and leave lip prints on the plastic. Who knows, maybe I am making up for lost time. Sabrina is stingy with her kisses; I practically have to beg her for them. She doles them out as if she were rationing bread to the starving masses.
How kissy are you with your kids?
I loved kissing my kids, who are now 23, 21, and 18. I noticed however I seemed to kiss my kids more than the other moms that were in our world at the time. So, I felt a little awkward. When my children were a little older my sister in law shared that she absolutely loved the way my kids always gave her a hug and planted a kiss on her. She said that was so rare in their family. She looked forward to when they would visit next so that she could recieve their unabashed affection. My 18 year old had a stroke while inutero. Love you blog. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteLots and lots of hugs and kisses here!
ReplyDeleteAnd at 18 and 21, neither will let me go to bed without one, even if they have to come into my room to get it!
I'm glad you said this. I was beginning to think something was wrong with me. I am SO kissy with my kids. Every moment I can I kiss them. It's like breathing to me.
ReplyDeletePoor things.
But I know that one day, they will refuse my kisses, so for now, they don't know any better and I'm not telling them. As for Alex, he is Mr. Kissy-Face too...unless he's hitting them. Nothing in the middle apparently.
We're huge on the kissing too..we have "Kiss Attacks" as we call them and my husband and I each get one of Gabi's cheeks and go kiss crazy ..haha she loves it and laughs her head off. She'll return the kiss attacks too ..the best is when she'll out of the blue say Momma run to me and give me a zillion kisses ..so heart melting. PDA is all good to me! I'd rate myself an 9 out of 10 for mushines haha.
ReplyDeleteI also kiss my son. A LOT. I'm also glad I'm not the only one that does/did the booty kisses. Such chubby cheeks!
ReplyDeleteMy kids HATE being kissed by anyone wearing lipstick. Not a problem for me, but they'll stop Great-grandma mid-pucker and demand, "Are you wearing lipstick?" It couldn't be funnier!
ReplyDeleteLove the description of Sabrina.....Happy birthday to Max!!!
ReplyDeleteI never refuse a kiss from Max when he offers it, even if he has a mouth full of food. His kisses are delicious and I don't mind that they linger on my cheek. I also get kisses from Sabrina sometimes - she likes to do a "nose kiss" and an "eyelash kiss".
ReplyDeletePlease.....have you seen Caleigh's Cheeks!!! I'm a constant kisser!
ReplyDeleteI thought I had commented on this post...hmmm...maybe all my Bennett kisses are distracting me.
ReplyDeleteI've never been much of a kisser, but I kiss Bennett ALL the time no matter where we are. He's also more than willing to give out his share of kisses although they're usually pretty wet. Oh well, that's what they made towels for.
I kiss our little dude all of the time. My hubby asked me how many kisses little dude had by the time he was three weeks and I am not sure I could have counted them in 3 digits even at that point :)
ReplyDeleteI love the sloppy, wet kisses from the little dude!
