Pamper me (and other fantasies)
Before I had kids I'd do spa nights at home—bath, face scrub and mask, mani, pedi, the works. Tonight, I managed to find time to put on a mask and freaked out Max and Sabrina. "MOMMY!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR FACE?" Sabrina asked.
I've become so low-maintenance, it's scary. Typically in the morning I'll take 20 minutes to shower, get dressed, show my hair some love (it's naturally curly, so I just slick in Be Curly and let it air dry) and put on makeup (powder, mascara, blush, lipstick). Minus two minutes if Sabrina ropes me into deciding which Princess underwear to wear—Jasmine? Cinderella? Belle? Ariel?—and minus two more minutes if Max wants a drink of water (I have to hold the cup for him, he has trouble gripping it). At night, I spend about 5 minutes washing my face, tweezing elusive brow hairs and putting on moisturizer.
What's your beauty routine like? What kind of pampering do you crave? I'd like a pro facial, please! And a hot-stone massage. And to lie on the couch while Dave feeds me grapes, one by one, and the kids clean up all their toys. But that's just crazy talk.
I am getting pampered at 8:30 am today...hair cut...major one. I have been a little funky lately, dyed my hair pink and such (well, Tony did it, and it was the underside and a big chunk up front...totally cool, but I now know what it feels like to be "different"). Everyone keeps telling me the cut I am getting is screaming 'Mommy Hair'...gee, I thought the mini van with 3 car seats, a baby hanging off my boob, drool on my shoulder and 2 crazy screaming boys gave me away...I guess not!
ReplyDeleteI do try and get to the spa once a year for a full body treatment. I love a good facial, and a deep tissue massage...yummy.
Forget the grapes, if Tony picked up his socks and underwear and put them in the clothes hamper I would feel pampered!
I couldn't live without mani/pedis. The grapes sound good but my husband prefers to feed me Ben and Jerry's on the sofa while we watch the Biggest Loser. It's a weekly tradition...
ReplyDeleteI'd like pretty much any kind of pampering. I remember getting a pedicure while Charlie was still in ICU and sadly there's been little pampering since then. I have gift certificates for a massage and pedicure that are now over a year old. Bah!
ReplyDeleteI don't even hope for pampering anymore...Five uninterrupted minutes in the shower would be a dream come true.
